My copy of the Many Forms by Last Rites arrived today.

I can only say this: it is amazing. I think you all know if I wasn't impressed, I'd say so. But this is a truly fantastic album. It has matured over Guided By Light in every aspect. I HIGHLY recommend you all go to Last Rites website (www.lastrites.org) and buy a copy directly from the band.

The one and only real criticism I had on the last album, that the lyrics seemed to take second place, is no longer a concern. If anyone does not think Nod can't stand up to Carl in the lyrical department, you really must listen to this. I really got the first album out of curiosity and devotion to the former members, and ended up very impressed with it . But I have to say - this one is really amazing in every aspect. I really feel this is the essence of FoTN extracted, perhaps even more completely than Carl's Mourning Sun. Part of that feeling also has to do with the fact that my preferred Nephilim era is the more "art rock" sound of the Brown Album (The Nephilim) - Psychonaut vs. the pink floyd Elizium. Though this has plenty of aural space and even some electronic/ambient elements.

Really, folks. Check this one out. I haven't been this overwhelmed by a new release in a very long time. I'll be playing a bit of it on this week's Sweet and Terrifying Sounds internet radio.

Best,

Lower me down, lower me down
Moonchild
Lower me down down down down down down

Well it's a righteous day
But out of mind, yeah
And I give your last rite
Oh, it's a righteous day

Never return, I will wait no more
Take no prisoners in the promised war
You'll die for this
Die for this
Take them

Moonchild
Lower me down, lower me down
Moonchild
Lower me down

Moonchild
Here come the silver pieces
Can't you see
You're losing me

Moonchild
Lower me down,
Moonchild
Lower me down down down down down down

Moonchild
Lower me down,
Moonchild
Lower me down down down down down down

Revisit to an empty hall
You can't see I've been burned before
Well they tear you down and they'll bear your shame
Longevity hear my pain

Moonchild (lower me down)

And I'm waiting, and I'm raging,
And I'm waiting, and I'm raging,
And a white moon falls, a black moon calls,
Waiting to defy the One

Moonchild (lower me down)

Longevity, longevity,
I melt down where I burned before
Longevity, longevity,
I melt down where I burned before
And I know where you lay
I melt down where I burned before
And I know where you lay (down, down, down)

Okay

Moonchild

*******

It goes on. So okay, I confess, I can't *always* figure out what Carl is saying. And isn't it rumored that many of the lyrics were never written down? But why do people have the effrontery to print "lyrics" when they obviously have no idea whether or not what they are saying has any basis in fact? Or maybe the manure thing was a joke and I've missed something somewhere....
